The BAT Group of Companies has completed a transaction to buy out a state-owned stake in JSC JV “UZBAT A.O.” in the amount of 22.3 million US dollars, confirming the long-term investment strategy in the economy of Uzbekistan.
On October 6, a transaction was concluded between BAT and the State Assets Management Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan to buy out the state share of shares in JSC JV “UZBAT A.O.” for a total amount of 22.3 million US dollars.

Through the recent transaction, BAT Group of Companies, who has been present in the market of the Republic of Uzbekistan since 1994, reaffirmed its position a reliable partner of the state and an investor in the Uzbek economy.
For more than 30 years in the Republic of Uzbekistan, the total amount of investments made by BAT Uzbekistan that contributed to the country's economy has exceeded 500 million US dollars.
Today, JSC JV "UZBAT A.O." is the leading manufacturer of tobacco products in Uzbekistan. In addition, the Samarkand Multi-Category Factory has been producing tobacco sticks for BAT's innovative heating product since 2023, putting into practice the BAT Group's strategy of creating "A Better Tomorrow™" to build a smokeless world.
BAT is the biggest private taxpayer in Uzbekistan, as well as a significant employer, providing more than 800 jobs. For seven years in a row, JSC JV "UZBAT A.O." has confirmed the status of Top Employer according to the international institute Top Employers Institute.
JSC JV "UZBAT A.O." is also known as one of the biggest exporters of the country, exporting its finished products and materials to countries including Kazakhstan, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Iraq, and South Korea, Thus implementing the directions on export growth, set forth by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
